Nan Goldin in the World of Marc Jacobs

The legendary Eden and after photographer turns up for her signing at Bookmarc dressed head to toe in ...

As anyone who caught that great Spring Summer Natalie Westling and Miley Cyrus campaign earlier this year knows, Marc Jacobs is a BIG fan of the redhead. And last night, his Bookmarc shop played host to Phaidon's own favourite flamehaired photographer - the legendary Nan Goldin. The Eden and after author sparked queues around the block when she turned up to sign copies of her books at Marc's store on Bleecker Street.

Dressed head to toe in Marc Jacobs - naturally - Nan signed books from six in the evening until nine, taking time to trade stories with a wonderful variety of fans from all walks of life - including the rock photographer Bob Gruen, the street photographer Mr Mort and, at one point, a lady with a dog who Nan took rather a shine to. After she finished signing books Nan hung around with the Marc Jacobs and Bookmarc teams until close to midnight.

Marc Jacobs and Nan have been close friends for a number of years. As you may know, the designer is as much an innovator in photography as well as fashion. Indeed, his next campaign was sourced using Instagram to great effect.

Back in April some 70,000 Marc Jacobs fans and aspiring models posted well-curated photos of themselves on social media, appended with the # CastMeMarc. Jacobs and his creative directors Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier whittled these down to the nine faces who will feature in ads for his Fall/Winter 2014 campaign, which debuts in next month's Teen Vogue.

By the same token, Nan too, is no stranger to the fashion world. She's worked on campaigns for many of the big name houses, including Dior, and has shot some incredible pictures of Marc himself, including some rather naked ones for Harper's Bazaar, back in 2010.

Her latest book though, focuses on the children who surround her, including many of the offspring from her infamous tribe of friends. You can find out a bit more about it by checking out our online content with Nan or, if you prefer, by heading straight into the store and buying it here.
